About Us
Hat Hill Gallery is named after the road leading to a natural rock formation known as Hat Hill, about 5kms east of the Blackheath township, from the summit of which a spectacular, 360 degree view of Greater Sydney, the Upper Grose Valley, Southern Wollemi National Park and the Kanangra-Boyd Wilderness can be enjoyed.

The building, built in the 1920's at the corner of Wentworth Street and Hat Hill Road in Blackheath, was initially an office where the local newspaper, the Blackheath Beacon, was compiled and printed. With the paper’s demise, a general store occupied the site for many years. More recently, the building was an activity centre for boarding house residents before major internal repairs in 2001 transformed the space into an art gallery and residence.

The gallery is operated by artist and fine music specialist, Viken Minassian, and curator, Kerry Kirk, whose background is in administration and textile art and design.
