Helen Ripley-Marshall - Green Chaos, Vinyl LP
Fresh Hold Releases presents Green Chaos, Helen Ripley-Marshall’s mysterious 1988 Australian ambient electronic album, reissued on vinyl for the first time. Originally released on Sydney’s private press Freefall label, it remains her sole musical statement.
Emerging from late-’80s inner-city Sydney’s experimental scene, the project began as a solo counterpoint to her band D Face, inspired by Triple J’s Ambience and artists like Tangerine Dream, Harold Budd and Brian Eno. Recorded at Exeter House Studio with Andrew Knight, it blends Berlin School repetition with concise, art rock-informed structures. Self-distributed and championed by radio, Green Chaos endures as a singular, quietly visionary work of Australian electronic music.
