The McIntosh MA252 is a 2-channel hybrid integrated amplifier that combines a vacuum tube preamplifier with a solid-state power amplifier. It delivers the sonic characteristics of tubes—warmth and rich musicality—with the modern power and efficiency of a transistor output stage. The MA252 is known for its classic McIntosh styling, which includes a polished stainless steel chassis and visible vacuum tubes, complemented by modern features like an OLED display
Power output: The amplifier is rated to deliver 100 watts per channel into 8-ohm speakers and 160 watts per channel into 4-ohm speakers.
McIntosh technologies:
Power Guard®: This patented technology monitors the output signal to prevent speaker clipping, protecting your speakers from potential damage from overdriving.
Sentry Monitor™: This protection circuit safeguards against short circuits in speaker cables.
Monogrammed Heatsinks™: Advanced, high-current output transistors connected to these specialized heatsinks allow the amplifier to be in peak operating condition almost immediately after being powered on.
Connectivity: The MA252 is an all-analog integrated amplifier with a variety of inputs, including one balanced XLR, two unbalanced RCA, and one Moving Magnet (MM) phono input for turntables.
Additional features:
- A high-drive 1/4" headphone jack is included for personal listening.
- It offers bass and treble tone controls, which can be bypassed if desired.
- A mono subwoofer output is included for adding a powered subwoofer.
- The unit comes with a remote control.
Visual cues: The vacuum tubes are housed within stylish protective cages. They glow green when the unit is operating normally, but will flash amber to indicate that the Power Guard® system is engaged.
OLED display: The front panel has a modern OLED display that shows input selection, volume level, and settings.
