Well-known historian Edgar Penzig explores 'the days when women stood side by side with their male partners splitting timber building bark roofed huts carting water hundreds of yards in buckets cooking over open fires in the heat of Australian summers washing both clothes and bodies in small basins coping with flies and illness and whilst doing these things being in some cases pregnant.
